Every year FIWE celebrates the success of women entrepreneurs who have achieved a mile stone in their respective field of work. The Priyadarshini Award for Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs was instituted in 1995 under the chairmanship of the Chairman of Small Industries Corporation and other common members of MSME, Small Industries Development Bank of India, Department of Women and Child Welfare and the Federation of Indian Women Entrepreneurs.
The award was given as an incentive towards the promotion and success of women entrepreneurs in India as well as from participating countries. It also recognizes the developmental work initiated by the different women entrepreneurs. Over one hundred women have been honored with this prestigious award and many of the winners today are considered outstanding achievers in their countries.
Three Bahraini women have bagged the prestigious Priyadarshini Award for Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs.
Speaking to media yesterday, Dr. Hashim Suleiman Hussein, head of United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), said the award was presented to Bahraini businesswomen, Huda Janahi (Global Cargo), Nawal Al Sabbagh (Nawal Flowers) and Khulood Abdelqadir (Curve Jewellery) in a conference held in New Delhi, India.
They won this award for their role in fulfilling the social responsibility and marking a great presence in the business sector, he said.
Dr. Hussein also said the awardees were playing a vital role in UNIDO programmes and in training others and thus bringing success in the life of others.
Dr. Hussein added the awardees were traveling worldwide to help others.
“They are role models to other women, who want to contribute for the women empowerment,” Dr. Hussein said, highlighting the role of Supreme Council for Women in encouraging the women entrepreneurs in Bahrain.
